1. Developer Specialist Support Engineer
Manchester, Lancashire
Reporting to the Specialist Support team leader, the Developer / Support Engineer will be responsible for the ongoing development and maintenance of a number of products ensuring that new functionality is added in a consistent manner. MAIN DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Responsible for the analysis, design, development, test and documentation of software solutions making specific determinations about system performance, future use and maintenance. - Responsible for the planning, monitoring and supervision of tasks, projects and resources delegated by the Team Leader. - Responsible for the controlling of configuration management on product software changes. - Providing & reviewing work estimates (ensuring estimate accuracy) and tracking changes against these estimates. - Assist the Team Leader in ensuring that progress against all tasks is monitored and reported as defined with the Company Software Development and Project Management processes. - Responsible for increasing software quality, including reviewing project deliverables. - Take ownership of a number of products at a technical level and ensure effective technical support is provided. - To work with the Change, Config & Release Manager to ensure all new software follows the correct CCR processes before being released to any live sites. SKILLS / EXPERIENCE Essential - Extensive development and diagnostic experience in Microsoft Access, Microsoft Visual Basic 4. (VB6 experience would also be advantageous) - Clean full UK Driving Licence. - Able to achieve the requirements to obtain a Airside Security Pass Desirable: - Experience or understanding of passenger processing within the Aviation industry. - Proven development and diagnostic experience in Microsoft.net, Microsoft MQ and or IBM MQ and Microsoft C - ITIL Foundation Certificate - Experience in working with Boarding Pass Printers, Bag Tag Printers, Boarding Gate Readers to AEA or IATA Specifications and Pectabs. - Understanding of Networking both at a LAN and WAN level. - Experience in working under the following platforms: Windows XP, Windows Server 2003 and 2000 - Able to provide training to other less experienced staff members as required - Proven experience of working with people from different countries and cultures This will typically involve a criminal record check, employment record check and residential status checks.
