Our Client is a major blue-chip organisation and is one of the largest employers within the Rail Industry.A nationwide rail project has been launched to find Engineers from a NON-RAIL industry background to be trained on the UKRailways and develop a career in Signalling Design Engineering.Once the training has been completed, you will be responsible for the production of designs and specifications supportingthe engineering development of allocated proposals from clarification of remit (start of stage 2) to the completion ofsingle option feasibility work and handover into detailed design (end of stage 4)Key responsibilities of the role will include analysing development remits, to help maintain a robust challenge tosponsoring engineers & managers and take part as required in value management and risk identification/analysis activitiesplus undertaking the development of suitable engineering options for a proposal ensuring that full consideration is givento safety, reliability, operational capacity modeling, maintainability, easy of construction and environmental/whole lifeissues.This role will require 7 months of training before you will be fully qualified. It will be a combination of theory basedclassroom tuition and provision of hands-on training through in-house hardware & external facilities and throughaccompanied site visits.The successful candidate must have: Minimum qualification: HNC/HND in Electrical & Electronic Engineering (or comparable qualification) You MUST have at least 5 years hands-on engineering (current exp.) - there is no preference upon type of engineeringcompany although working within a safety critical engineering environment is preferred Likewise, You MUST have a minimum of 5 years current hands on management skills (including man-management) whilst atthe same time, still being a practicing engineer Breadth of experience in more than one company is preferable. You MUST be a confident communicator comfortable addressing a group of people, making presentations, running &attending meetings, meeting people for the 1st time. Good influencing skills and the ability to communicate and explain technical/design issues effectively at all levels. Sound judgment based on pragmatic decision making skills in a safety critical, regulated environment. The positions are looking to pay a starting salary of GBP 28K rising to GBP 30K on successful completion of the course.Roles to be based in: Glasgow, York, Birmingham & CroydonWhen applying, please indicate which location you would like to be based out of if successful. |
