Our client is one of the UKs largest and fastest growing chocolate brands with current year sales of approximately GBP 30mand a 50% growth rate.An opportunity exists for a talented and experienced Supply Chain Director to join their main board and lead transitionto supply chain excellence.This is a substantial challenge and will require excellent planning and analytical abilities, coupled with in-depthindustry IT know-how of ERP,MRP and the leadership abilities to bring about this transition to excellence.Their heritage lies in mail order and internet retailing with 500,000 active customers but the biggest current supplychain challenge comes from the aggressively growing chain stores.The right candidate should have a track record of success in planning and implementing ERP/MRP projects as well asdirector level experience of supply chain responsibility in an FMCG environment.Key ObjectivesTo be responsible for planning and executing a complete modernisation of supply chain activities to give them anintegrated, intelligent, ultra-efficient, flow making full use of most current industry developments.To direct and be responsible for purchasing, stock control, logistics and distribution.Key TasksDevise and implement the necessary strategies to establish supply chain excellence at the lowest ultimate cost to thecompany.Recognise the future sourcing needs of the company, and ensure decisions are based on the market and dynamics of thebusiness.Compile KPIs.Assist in risk and value management reducing exposure in critical supply markets.Monitor trade in relation to developments, market trends, activity levels, current pricing trends, labour availability,legislative developments etc.Direct the activities of the buyers to accomplish company objectives.Develop policies and procedures for the operation of procurement activities, drive customer satisfaction improvements,major cost reductions, cycle time improvements, delivery quality and inventory reductions.Review and approve purchases, co-ordinate purchasing activities with other departments, ensure that vendor manufacturingcharges comply with contracts and budgets, manage excess and obsolete inventory and develop metrics to define and measurekey performance indicators and reports.To motivate and develop mixed teams within the business.Person specification and ExperienceExpert working knowledge of supply chain solutions including MRP/ERP, EDI, RFID etc.Ability to work in a high-pressure environment and be able to make sound commercial decisions under pressure fromconflicting resource demands.Ideally a background in FMCG and multiple retailing.Must understand the supply chain interaction and the appropriate levers and actions to take to achieve growth, serviceand productivity objectives.Extensive knowledge of multiple retail delivery including fleet management.As a potential candidate to fill this role you will have been in a senior supply chain role for at least five yearsideally within the FMCG retail environment.AttributesExcellent communicatorTeam playerPro-active with a can-do attitudeStrategic thinker with the ability to be tactical when requiredOutstanding inter-personal skills and the ability to lead an extremely cohesive senior management team.Ethical and hard-working |
