RoleWe are seeking a Site Investigation Specialist to join our Manchester office. The successful candidate will join a team of geo-environmental and environmental management specialists within the Environmental business unit. The appointed candidate will be primarily responsible for the site management and technical supervision of subcontractors engaged on site investigations, with follow up factual reporting and some element of interpretative reporting.He/she will help to deliver ground engineering solutions to a range of clients, principally through geotechnical consultancy and site investigation contracting services. Consequently, candidates for this post should be able to demonstrate a sound knowledge and experience of site investigation techniques and practice, as applied to both geotechnical and contaminated land issues, plus an awareness of the health and safety issues that apply to such work. Experience RequirementsA graduate with minimum 2 years experienceDegree in engineering geology, geology or civil engineeringExperienced in producing desk top studiesExperienced in the site management of intrusive investigations Sound knowledge of site investigation methods and laboratory testing in relation to both contaminated land and geotechnics (including relevant British Standards, best practice etc.)Production of factual and, preferably, interpretative reportsSome experience or appreciation of geotechnical design e.g. slope stability assessments, foundations, ground improvement techniquesExperience or appreciation of the methodologies applied in the assessment of contaminated land The role will be a mix of site based and office work. Therefore the successful candidate needs to be flexible and understand carrying out site investigations forms a key part of the roleA further bonus would be experience of railway work but lack of this should not be a constraint
