The Role:As well as having the opportunity to broaden your experience of designing messaging applications to include newmultimedia technologies, you'll actively participate in the design of our messaging networks, taking customer needs andtranslating them into technical solutions that can deliver the required functionality. To this end, you'll work closelywith other teams to define changes to the IP design of the network, and to assess the impact on capacity and performance.The messaging team within Orange UK is responsible for the design of the MMS (Photo Messaging) and SMS (text messaging)networks and in addition to producing technical requirements specifications, you'll be involved at all stages of theprocess, from initial concept, through design, development, test and live deployment.To help you get a better understanding of the role, we think that it would suit someone who is looking for a job as atelecom network architect or engineer.Must Haves:To be considered for this role you must be able to demonstrate the following:Two years' experience of messaging systems in a mobile environment.Two years' experience in producing technical requirements specifications for complex systems.A good understanding of GSM, TCP and IP protocols.Nice to Haves:It would be great if you also had some of these:A background that includes working in project management.Familiarity with the design process, from requirements to software release.The Department:You'll be joining the Messaging Data Services team. We're part of the Network Services department, which contains all thenetwork design resources for the whole of Orange UK, including the IP and signalling network, as well as all occasionalplatforms within the network.Location: Bristol
