My client is a leading not-for-profit organisation dedicated to the peaceful, reasonable and scientific abolition of vivisection (testing and experimentation on animals). They are currently seeking a Scientific Coordinator to join their small but dedicated team.The main purpose of the role is to lead the campaign against vivisection by raising awareness of issues around animal experimentation through media activity, celebrity support and by establishing and maintaining corporate relationships. You will need to gain support of leading industry figures, commission scientific studies and act as the media spokesperson for the organisation. All of these activities need to be carried out in the most professional manner, while always maintaining a logical, scientific and peaceful debate. You will also need to build on the quality educational and information materials that currently exist and endeavour to change laws and government policies through public campaigning and political lobbying with legal and scientific expertise. We are seeking applications from scientists with a good understanding of the issues surrounding vivisection and animal experimentation. You will need to have experience of researching, writing and presenting information and a thorough understanding of the remit of a campaigning organisation.Experience of speaking to the media and in front of audiences will be a distinct advantage.Obviously this is a subject that is considered controversial, but by using logical, peaceful and scientific arguments, this organisation hope to see the gradual withdrawal and eventual abolition of animal testing, a passion that you should share. The campaign office if located in central London and you will be expected to have a regular presence there (at least twice a week) but hours are flexible and you can work remotely from home when not in the London office. The salary on offer is between GBP 25K - GBP 35K plus pension and benefits.
