My client is one of the leading players in the wind energy industry and for the last 25 years has been pivotal in thedevelopment of the wind energy market in the UK and more recently still, is proving to be very successful in theinternational arena.With head offices in the Home Counties (very accessible from the M25) and regional offices across the UK as well asEurope, Japan + the US, the company continues to invest in R+D in order to maintain its leading position in this excitingsector.Recruitment is high on their current business agenda and a key hire is the appointment of a SCADA & CommunicationsEngineer.The RoleSCADA and Communications are becoming an increasingly critical part in the construction and operation of wind farms andin response to increasing workload, an engineer is required to provide support to the wind turbine engineering sectionand construction teams in all aspects of SCADA and communications for wind farms in the UK and other markets in Europe,USA and Australia. The responsibilities will include: Establishing through discussion with turbine manufactures (who normally supply the SCADA systems) the technicalrequirements and capabilities of the systems being offered. Liaise with external clients and/or internal O&M team to ensure that end user requirements are met. Develop and manage the SCADA test on completion. Assisting the electrical designers to manage the interface between the wind farm and the grid operators. Define communications options for wind farms during development and construction. Manage the technical aspects of establishing site communications. Assist the operational team with any communications problems that arise on operating sites. Manage the grid interface monitoring system based at HQ.The PersonThe ideal candidate will have a degree in an engineering discipline + an interest in SCADA systems and/or communication.The ability to work to demanding timescales and manage workload on a number of projects simultaneously is essential.
