: Safety Manager to promote good health, safety and environment (HS&E) practices within this leading technology and innovation company. Probably a graduate; you must have a formal HS&E qualification such as a NEBOSH certificate and a sound knowledge of HS&E legislation and good practice. A confident communicator and doer with sound skills in writing operating procedures; ideally you will have worked in an engineering environment and be familiar with a range of engineering disciplines. The company offers an attractive salary, this is negotiable but likely to be between GBP 28-35K depending on background and experience. There are in addition good benefits including assistance with relocation if required and profit share. The Safety Manager provides both management and HS&E professional advice. Specific responsibilities include defining the direction and prioritising HS&E activities; working with the Director to define annual HS&E priorities, and report on progress to the Board; and driving the take up of existing HS&E procedures, i.e. client project work and support activities. You will be involved in developing new HS&E procedures, and finding appropriate ways of adapting them to the company; enhancing HS&E procedures to reflect changes in best practice and in legislative requirements; and working closely with the QA Manager to develop co-ordinated HS&E and QA procedures. You will responsible for driving initiatives to improve the implementation of HS&E procedures; and have responsibility for operating the HS&E budget, managing the fire and emergency management procedures; and co-ordinating the first aid team and promoting the provision of first aid and occupational health support. As a HS&E professional, the Safety Manager will apply his/her knowledge and experience by taking part in HS&E audits on client projects; taking part in project safety reviews and proposing technical solutions to projects; and inspecting labs, workshops, projects and other workplaces to identify safety hazards. Other areas of work include inspecting project-developed equipment prior to delivery to clients; identifying generic project safety issues and initiating common solutions; taking part in audits and inspections; and performing investigations into accidents and near misses. Other aspects are identifying training needs, and performing some training including induction training; performing occasional HS&E consultancy assignments for third parties. |
