A Specialist Quality Engineer/Co-ordinator is required to lead the Quality Function of Cummins Darlington to motiveimprovement and champion Quality Functional Excellence.Cummins is a world leader in the design and manufacture of Diesel Engines. The Darlington plant supplies engines in themid-power range to over 200 different customers in 40 countries. These engines are used in Automotive, Industrial,Marine, Power Generation, Mining, and Construction and Rail applications. The Darlington Worldwide Technical Centre leadsnew engine platform design and development, from concept to production. Established in 1965, the factory has over 250,000sq ft, has won the Queen's Award for Exports three times and holds the Investor in People certificate. Its vision for thefuture is targeted at five key elements: competitive pricing, shorter lead times, reliable delivery, quality product andresponsive, flexible and easy to deal with as a supplier.Key ResponsibilitiesChampion Quality Functional Excellence in area of Speciality e.g. Environment; Quality Systems and Certifications etc.Lead the Quality Function to motivate improvement.Develop and Maintain systems that comply with the appropriate Quality Systems e.g. TS 16949, ISO 14001; Marine, andfacilitate all external audits.Provide Technical Support to all Darlington Engine Plant and affiliated areas (e.g. UK SQI, European Technical Operationsetc)Train and lead internal audit groups as well as facilitating management reviews for Quality Systems and EnvironmentalSystemsProvide common data and information reports required by customer areas and as part of local improvement effortsWork with all Plant and affiliated areas to develop an improved Quality Culture through a team approachProvide technical support to Quality Improvement TeamsTake an active part in the overall dissemination of Quality Systems and Improvement tools; 6-Sigma; 7-step, FMEA (FailureMode & Effects Analysis), FTA (Fault Tree Analysis) etc.Essential Skills:Appropriate Engineering Degree, HND or HNC.Knowledge of Cummins Darlington product, processes & people would be an advantage.Ability to coach, teach and motivateStrong Quality Tools core skillsStatistical knowledgeHigh analytical/problem solving skillsDeep knowledge in area of Speciality (Quality Systems and Environmental Systems)PC LiterateCummins would like you to apply via their own website so that your details can be seen and actioned the following day byone of their Hiring Managers.
