This world leading test and certification organisation is urgently seeking a Project Engineer to manage engineeringprojects related to the safety testing and certification of a wide range of alarms and security products (including smokedectectors, fire alarms CO alarms, gas detectors and other visible/audible signalling systems).Under limited supervision, the successful applicant will be required to independently manage the execution and timelycompletion of engineering projects by analyzing project scope and determining project specifications, establishing testprograms for product investigations, and preparing reports for clients. You will be participating in the development ofCompany requirements, test methods, and test equipment; exercising Project Handler Signature Authority as Project Handlerof record responsible for opening, maintenance, completion, and closing of assigned new work engineering projects; mayexercise Review Signature Authority as assigned as Reviewer of record responsible for initial review, status review, andfinal technical review of all new work engineering projects.Standards applicable to this role include:* UL 268 - System connected smoke detectors for commercial application, includes spot type, Beam type and Aspiratingtype.* UL 217 - Residential type smoke alarms. The testing of these devices is very similar to 268* UL 521 - These are heat detectors typically for commercial application.* UL 864 - This standard is applicable to fire alarm controls.* UL985 - Residential Fire alarm controls. It can be viewed as a subset of UL 864.There are other related areas to fire alarm these include:* UL 2034 - CO alarms.* UL 2075 Gas Detectors.* UL 464 Audible Signal appliances.* UL 1638/1971 Visible Signaling appliances.To be considered for this position applicants should possess a degree or similar level qualification in Engineeringcombined with a minimum of four years working knowledge/experience directly related to alarms and security/signallingsystems. You should also have good knowledge of conformity standards related to these products and be able to demonstratethe ability to apply project-handling concepts in use in your area of expertise. Good communication skills and soundknowledge of technical vocabulary is essential.Salary: Up to GBP 35,000 + excellent benefits package |
