This is a demanding role and requires someone who is flexible, efficient and an excellent time manager as well as being able to handle complex schedules and overlapping deadlines. It is imperative that you are an expert communicator and able to project manage and multi-task efficiently.Ideally candidates will have a degree, and have a proven background of production and management expertise in handling schedules on time in a complicated area. Experience and knowledge of the 4 colour book market is important, along with excellent production and pre-press skills. They are a likeable crowd of enthusiastic people, based in attractive historic non-smoking office buildings near Watford.The position is a manager position with at least 3-5 years experience. It includes liaison with Far East printers and some film checking involved. Most films are now digitalized and able to handle Quark is a great asset. Able to solve printer or films problem without external involvement. Thus creativity is a big asset for this. Currently, involvement in pre-press is limited, but may change. However, still need knowledge of this as editorial who handles the pre-press requirement may ask for advice. There is also an opportunity to be involved in books plus (novelty) items when this gets fully underway as this is a new addition to the publishing program.
