Our Design Office is in the process of improving our machine designs and we need the skills of atalented engineer to help our Production Teams manufacture efficiently.Duties:Reporting to the Production Manager, the Production Engineer will play a key role in the Engineering Production Team,striving to continuously improve the production processes and techniques used in the manufacture of the Guttridge rangeof bulk handling products. He or she will work in an office attached to the workshop at our modern factory in Spaldingand will:Work closely with all production departments to conduct regular critical analysis of the manufacturing methods andtechniques in use on existing products; compare current methods with latest thinking and available technology; useProcess Mapping and other Lean Manufacturing techniques to help identify potential improvements to operationalefficiency.Liaise and cooperate with design personnel during the design process to help ensure that the best design for manufacturefeatures are included in new and existing product designs so as to minimise production costs.Offer ideas and solutions for improvements to Jigs, Fixtures, tools and handling techniques.Prepare basic CAD drawings where necessary to facilitate objectives.Work closely with Production Manager with particular attention to what is scheduled for production and be aware of futureorders which may require special production attention.Be proactive in promoting, leading and developing Lean Manufacturing initiatives.Skills and attributes sought (commensurate with age and experience).Articulate, literate, resourceful, personable production engineer able to work efficiently and to deadlines driven byproduction needs.A technical understanding of manufacturing methods, processes and techniques, preferably with experience of sheet metalfabrication, CNC laser cutting, punching, press brake bending and welding. A knowledge of machining and painting would bean advantage, although not essential.Numeracy, technical capability and computer literacy are essential. As a minimum we expect you to be a confident user ofCAD software and current Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet Explorer software.You will be an experienced engineer looking for fresh challenges and opportunities or a graduate seeking an engineeringopportunity with a forward looking company.Training and Career Development:Training will be given to enable the successful candidate to perform their role with confidence and competence.
