An excellent opportunity to join one of the leading independent product assessment companies in the UK with opportunities from technician up to senior engineer level, engineering laboratory test work on a wide range of electrical products (ranging from domestic appliances to large industrial machines); taking measurements and assessing equipment to published European Norm & other national and international specifications (Low Voltage Directive, EN XX , EN XX , EN XX , EN XX ). Products tested range from small transformers for computers to metal grinding machines for the motor industry. Must be presentable/professional, have an enquiring & practical approach, be thorough and have ability to analyse & understand complex technical documentation. An ability to write clear and concise technical reports and to communicate effectively with clients is essential as is logical laboratory record keeping and good personal organisation. Test results are reported to the client as well as recommendations for remedial action where required. Products tested range from small transformers for computers to metal grinding machines for the motor industry. There is a high degree of client contact and engineers must be able to present themselves in a professional fashion. The successful candidates will have an enquiring and practical approach to their work, will demonstrate thoroughness and the ability to analyse and understand complex technical documentation. An ability to write clear and concise technical reports and to communicate effectively with clients (to Technical Director level) is essential. Logical laboratory record keeping and good personal organisation are key requirements. Projects are conducted within the laboratories and at clients premises and thus UK and international travel may be required upon completion of training (a current, clean driving licence is also required). Must be able to work in a team or on own.
