: First class opportunity for you to join the largest manufacturer of steel office storage systems in the UK. They continue to hold the position of market leader by investing in vigorous capital expenditure programmes and through its re-investment of 100% of its profits back into the business. They are now seeking and Product Development Draughts Person to take product development requests and translate these into new or modified products. Your main duties will include liaising with production over product development needs (mechanics, practicalities, feasibility), producing design drawings using CAD software, liaising with production and suppliers to create plan for introduction of new/modified product and project managing the introduction of the new/modified product. You will remain hands-on throughout the prototype assembly stage You should have 2-3 years' experience of sheet metal manufacturing processes, possibly gained as an apprentice in a sub-contracting environment. This will include an understanding of sheet metal development. You should be able to read and interpret engineering drawings and identify cost reduction opportunities. You should also have good negotiating skills with strong experience of Auto CAD and 3D (e.g. Solid Edge). With an ONC in Mechanical Engineering, they are seeking someone with excellent organisational and planning skills, a perfectionist, with strong attention to detail and a problem-solver, able to think 'outside the box'. |
