The RoleThis is a new role that will report to the Director of Business Development. The Pre-Sales Support Engineer will beresponsible for the organisation, configuration and on-going improvement of the companys demonstration systems andcontent. The primary task will involve understanding the requirements for each opportunity, tailoring and structuring thestandard demo system as appropriate, creating/assembling and loading any extra content needed for the demo, and preparinga demonstration script.Demonstrations of the demonstration systems are critically important to the company in its sales processes and they needconsiderable attention to develop their effectiveness and relevance to each and every sales opportunity. The role couldinclude carrying out demonstrations to sales prospects if the person can show experience and skills in salespresentations or an appropriate aptitude.Essential Skills and ExperienceThe person is likely to have this profile: A background in the graphics arts industry, ideally in content production and management. Deep knowledge and skills in the use and deployment of Macintoshes, Quark, InDesign (ideally CS2), Photoshop andIllustrator in either a publishing or marketing environment. An understanding of digital image and graphics formats and transformations as well as content make-up workflows all theway through from content reception/acquisition to print ready output. An understanding of digital asset management and workflow systems would be a distinct advantage. Be able to take an informal brief from their manager and turn it into a well developed plan that is then executedswiftly and deeply. Be able to take a verbal (and occasionally written) brief about a prospective customers business requirements and turnthem into a compelling demonstration using appropriate content. Be highly organised and disciplined in maintaining documentation and content about the demonstration systems. Be confident and reliable in a sales environment working under pressurised deadlines and with important and seniorstaff and prospective customers.PersonalityA self-starter and team player, with the confidence from strong credentials in his/her own area of expertise. Goodcommunication skills, with the ability and willingness to listen to and learn from people in different disciplines. Goodattention to detail. Presentable and professional in manner, without being stuffy. Can do attitude.You can expect to find the work interesting and challenging, and to develop new skills.
