The Power/Communications Engineer will undertake and manage design activities associated with the use of legacycommunications infrastructure within the project, carrying out the following activities:* Carry out design of communications schemes, new and upgrades* Liaise with other partners on the impact of such schemes* Provide advice on all highways communications issues* Attend/support survey activities for location of power supplies* Liaise with Scheme designers to ensure all communications aspects are adequately addressed* Provide line management for communications design resources as the team grows* Manage and maintain the library of as-built drawings, standards and specifications on behalf of GeneSYS* Assist with general liaison issues* Support the Project Manager in delivering work packagesThe Power/Communications Engineer will have the following skills/capabilities.Essential:* Direct experience (3-8 years) in design or specification of highway traffic control and communication systems.Desirable:* Experience of radio and or SCADA-based systems,* Previous working experience with Highways Agency working practices.* Previous experience in a customer facing environment.* Experienced at working to strict time scales in which to deliver projects.
