This is working for a major rail company who requires a number of P-Way (permanent way) design engineers. Reporting tothe Principal Track Design Manager, this role will provide a comprehensive survey and design service for track renewal,maintenance and upgrading works to meet the technical, safety, quality and financial requirements of the Business.Produce track surveys and designs to support track renewal and reconditioning programmes; Interpret Client requirementsand provide technical advice to ensure compliance with Corporate St and ards and safety requirements for the Railway;Responsible for producing track designs through liaison with: Signal Services Engineers, Electrical DistributionEngineers, Drainage Engineers, Bridge Engineers, Civil and Structural Engineers, Contractors and Consultants. Responsiblefor the identification and production of concession to standards. Required skills & experience: Primary requirement is agood working knowledge of Track Design gained in either metro or Main Line areas of the Railway industry, for a minimumperiod of 5 years. Technical ability is prerequisite together with the need to be an effective communicator. Formalqualifications are desirable, such as a higher education certificate (e.g. HNC) in Civil or Mechanical Engineering.Computer literacy is required to keep abreast of the available software packages and limitations of their use. Generalsoftware includes Excel and Word but more specialised applications include ITD Hallade and InRail. Preferably a competentCAD operator. Experience of Microstation and Autocad2000. The role will require some working at weekends and unsociablehours. The extent of this will be determined and aligned with appropriate payment level.
