These are long-termpartnerships with clients for whom we manage and provide increasingly specialized business operations, such as financeand accounting, IT, applications development and maintenance, help desk services, and HR. We not only maintain keybusiness functions for clients, we constantly seek to improve them to help our clients move ahead of the competition.The role will involve the following duties: * Provide day-to-day, hands-on technical support of Oracle based production and development systems running on various platforms. * Work as part of a technical support team delivering a quality service to multiple clients using a variety of hardware and software products. * Provide expertise in the following areas: Database performance tuning, capacity planning, maintenance patching and new version installation, Client installs and Spotlight/Toad.Key Responsibilities: * Plan and implement medium to high-risk changes on high profile production systems * Analyze and assess the impact and risk of low to medium risk changes on high profile production systems. * Resolve difficult/complex incidents affecting the operation/availability of high profile production systems * Install, configure, patch and maintain Oracle RDBMS software. * Manage and support clustered databases * Manage and support various database backup strategies such as RMAN * Analyze system performance indicators and recommend improvement actions * Perform major upgrades of Oracle systems and associated products. * Monitor vendors' release notes and plan necessary upgrades and patches as required * Assist disaster recovery tests * Create and review technical system recovery plans * Assess/install/maintain third-party tools, such as Spotlight, Quest Tools * Review the problem management register and identify and implement actions * Make pro-active suggestions for service improvements.Qualifications and Experience * Higher Level Qualification in a technical subject is desirable. * Oracle Certification is desirable but not essential * Working in change controlled production environments. * Minimum 2 years of Oracle database administration experience (to include Oracle 8 and 9) with some SQL Plus and Unix Korn scripting fluency; RMAN (highly desirable). Some Oracle Applications experience including 11i would be an advantage. * Experience must have been gained in a production environment * Experience of any of the following is desirable - Toad, Spotlight, OEM; Statspack * Excellent benefits package * Take part in 24x7 on-call rota - around one week in four * Work out of hours evenings, nights, weekends, bank holidays at reasonable request to perform production changes * Travel to other locations when required * Able to work from home occasionallyAccenture is a global management consulting, technology services and outsourcing company.
