Outline of hire opportunity:We are seeking to recruit an Optical Engineer to provide detailed optics expertise into our range of leading particlesize measurement instrumentation.The successful candidate will provide innovative solutions to the specific requirements of various instrumentationprojects, working in a team that designs integrated optical/mechanical/electronic systems.This includes analysis of optical designs; analysis of optical system tolerances and error budgets; integration andtesting of optical instrumentation; and maintaining awareness of developments in optical/optoelectronic techniques anddevices.SkillsEssential Advanced (MSc/PhD) degree in physics/optics or a related field Expertise in optics system/component design Experience of precision opto-mechanical design In depth design with lasers, lens, fibre systems Close co-operation with suppliers Analysis using CAE (eg. Zemax) Tolerance analysis over environmental limits Manufacturing assy/test requirements Hands-on approach Design for robustnessBeneficial Mechanical design Electro-optics experience Microscopy experience
