BackgroundOur client is a full service agency providing creative and media services for online, offline and broadcast campaigns forover 300 clients many of whom are household names in the overseas travel, property, training and education sectors. Thecompany employs eighty staff at its modern open plan offices.In order to enable the company to achieve and exceed its ambitious plans for growth, the position of Media Director hasbeen identified as a key new appointment.The PositionThe Media Director will report directly to the Managing Director of the company and will be accountable for all aspectsof media planning and buying specifically in respect of classified press, radio, outdoor and to some extent televisionacross the complete portfolio of the client base. The objective is to ensure both maximum client satisfaction andretention and company profitability.Specifically the Media Director will be responsible for:Media buyingResearching, preparing and presenting client's media schedules.Managing and presenting the "Media" aspects of pitches to prospective new clients and repitches to current clientsDeveloping the media profile within the business by preparing and presenting media training programmes to colleaguesEnsuring systems and procedures provide for a culture of shared and current information to colleagues in relation to allmedia mattersSupporting and developing staff to use media effectively and creatively. In the first instance the Media Director willhave at least one member of staff reporting to themTo work with the Managing Director to identify and then implement media based strategies to minimize client loss andmaximise client retentionIn undertaking this role the Media Director will be expected to work closely with the existing new business and accountmanagement and creative teams.BackgroundIt is anticipated that the Media Director appointed will currently be employed at a senior level within either a media orfull service agency and will have at least 5 years experience in media planning.They will have a broad range of media experience including experience of television and online and may have specialistknowledge in media planning, research and analysis. They will be commercially aware, have excellent presentation skillsand be comfortable in client facing situations. |
