Description:

:Our client is a world leader in the design and manufacture of electrical and fibre-optic, connection components for harsh environments (aerospace, military, autosport etc.).They have a vacancy for a MATERIALS TECHNOLOGIST to be the leading authority and reference point within the company for materials development and the introduction of new materials and processes.This role will involve researching new developments in the areas of rubber, plastic, bonding and potting materials and making this information available to the relevant departments in a format which is readily understood.The post holder will be required to attend design meetings and actively contribute to the process of new product development, along with the creation of FMEA's to ensure the prevention, detection and solution of possible faults. Input will also be required in respect of Health and Safety guidelines for the safe use of polymers and adhesives throughout the company.Applicants must have a degree or equivalent in either Materials Engineering or Materials Science, along with a proven background in plastics, rubbers and adhesives while experience in metals would be an advantage. As this role involves communicating both verbally and in writing at all levels throughout the company excellent communication skills and the ability to analyze technical information and provide reports in a form easily understood by engineers and managers are extremely important.The successful candidate will be self motivated and pro active with a hands-on approach to investigation and problem solving, they will be expected to manage their own workload and ensure tasks are completed in a timely manner.<>
