Description:

Our client is a large water utility organisation and require for the Surrey area a Maintenance Technician to cover theresites. You will have served a formal apprentice and preferably be multi-skilled in both mechanical and electricaldisciplines.The Job Holder. Make adjustments to water treatment equipment and processes within specified limits and following company procedures. Recommend adjustments to water treatment equipment and processes. May stop and start plant and equipment when required. May isolate plant and equipment when required. Action calls from control room while on standby. Recommend improvements and changes to operating systems and plant where appropriately trained. May use breathing apparatus when required. May work in hazardous locations, confined spaces, gas and plant rooms. May authorise and issue permits to work in confined spaces, gas and plant rooms. May stop any work or contractors operating in an unsafe manner. May take emergency action to safeguard water quality and supplies. May drive various Company vehicles. May be required to supervise work being carried out by other departments and contractors.The job demands: Job has to be carried out in all types of locations from office workshop, pumping stations, water towers, reservoirs,confined spaces, roadside and open fields. Involves usually daily travel to different locations. Standby is for 7 days on 24 hours per day, every 4-6 weeks. Call-out occurs on average approximately once every 24 hour period. Work is carried out in all weathers, hot, cold, dry and wet. It can be physically demanding especially work inhazardous locations and whilst wearing breathing apparatus. Normal working hours are between 0800 to 1600 hours.May be required to work extended hours during emergencies
