Reporting to the Maintenance Manager the role will be to provide support to Team Reps and the Maintenance Teams toco-ordinate achievement of key goals on throughput, delivery, quality and cost.Cummins is a world leader in the design and manufacture of Diesel Engines. The Darlington plant supplies engines in themid-power range to over 200 different customers in 40 countries. These engines are used in Automotive, Industrial,Marine, Power Generation, Mining, and Construction and Rail applications. The Darlington Worldwide Technical Centre leadsnew engine platform design and development, from concept to production. Its vision for thefuture is targeted at five key elements: competitive pricing, shorter lead times, reliable delivery, quality product andresponsive, flexible and easy to deal with as a supplier.Key ResponsibilitiesManaging a team of 24 maintenance technicians across a 3 shifts pattern, providing area maintenance support to operationsand driving improvements on equipment uptime and planned maintenance performance.Identifying and implementing productivity improvements with the teams backing to achieve AOP and departmental targets.Co-ordinate the achievement of daily, medium term and longer term Maintenance goals in support of production targets anddepartmental measures.Develop, maintain and monitor effective line maintenance allocation and technician utilisation.Develop and track the implementation of structured improvement plans using the appropriate problem solving tools (e.g. 6Sigma)Proactively support the Maintenance Manager and Team Rep's in the implementation of COS principles & practices and thepromotion of Maintenance Functional Excellence.Proactively support the introduction of new products, facilitating plans to minimise any impact on Maintenance measuresand production output.Operate as primary Maintenance link to Shop Operations, Manufacturing support, Engineering and other functions.All issues impacting maintenance uptime are to be recorded and understood and corrective actions put in place to achievebusiness targets.Essential Skills:Degree level preferred but not essential (specific to the role).A lower level qualification supplemented with at least 5 years experience in Maintenance / manufacturing environment.People and conflict management skills.Knowledge of manufacturing build and maintenance, best practices.At least 5 years experience in a manufacturing / maintenance environment / role.Previous Supervisory / team leader experience.Cummins would like you to apply via their own website so that your details can be seen and actioned the following day byone of their Hiring Managers.
