Our Client, an International oil/gas, design and construction Contractor are currently seeking a Lead Estimator to startas soon as possible. The successful candidate should be able to demonstrate excellent leadership skills and haveexperience of leading a team.Basic Function Administrative and supervisory responsibility on multiple projects and across multiple constructionspecialities. Provides team leadership in the development of all types of estimate. Provides direction and expertise inthe improvement of work processes and the collection and analysis of historical data. Will report to the Manager of Estimating and may be called upon to deputise for the Manager. Responsible forassigned work process improvement projects and other development work as directed by the Manager. When assigned toprojects or proposals, accountable to the Project Manager for day to day estimating activity on that project. Needs to have a high degree of numeracy and be able to make sound judgements based on experience. Whilst havinga sound understanding of the importance of procedures, should have the ability to envisage solutions which are not boundby them without compromising quality.Qualifications and ExperienceMinimum HNC or equivalent engineering qualification, or certification as a Cost Engineer or equivalent.Must possess a high level of IT skills and be able to make effective use of tools such as spreadsheets and databases.Minimum 5 years experience as an estimator preferably with a major contractor in the Oil and Gas industries.Capable of administering and supervising teams of estimators on projects and proposals and able to plan, prioritise anddelegate work effectively, often in the face of changing demands. Able to coach and develop the skills and competence ofsubordinate staff. Responsibilites include audits and peer reviews.Must be a competent presenter and an effective communicator, able to engender confidence in project and corporatemanagement, as well as in subordinate staff. Should have a good command of written English, and be able to produce clearand concise plans and procedures both on projects and within the discipline.Flexible and able to respond to short term demands. Should be prepared to travel and to undertake assignments away fromthe home office when required.Salary + Benefits :in the region of GBP 55k +. |
