The Laboratory provides a comprehensive testing service for civil engineering materials and workmanship, checkingcompliance against appropriate specifications. The Laboratory also provides support on collecting and checking highwaycondition survey data.Working in the permanent Laboratory, on-site or on the highway, you will be responsible for sampling, testing andreporting on the quality of various highway/civil engineering materials and associated workmanship. You'll also undertakevisual and mechanical surveys of highway attributes and condition.Educated to GCSE level (or equivalent) in Maths, English and/or Science subjects, you should have experience of workingin a technical environment and knowledge of basic Quality Control procedures. Civil Engineering or general laboratorywork experience would be desirable. The ability to meet the physical demands of the post is essential, together with theability to drive the laboratory vehicles. Basic keyboard skills are also essential.Salary will be according to experience and qualifications and some night-time and weekend working will be required.Should you not meet the criteria above, our client may be able to consider appointment at a lower grade to allow fortraining and development into the job.
