A leading consultant seeks a Chartered Civil Engineer with a Degree in Civil Engineering and a minimum 10 years postchartered experience in the design of major highway projects for UK Government Departments.ExperienceKnowledge of the Statutory Process (including Orders), with a thorough understanding of Specification and DMRBstandards.Experienced in the use of MX Professional, including Grade Separated Interchanges.Knowledge of the Highways Agency procurement strategy an advantageKnowledge of highway design and build schemes an advantageKnowledge of environmentally sensitive schemes an advantageKnowledge of public consultation and public inquiry an advantageGood communication and written skills.Knowledge of Management SystemsPrimary DutiesTo support scheme Design Project ManagerTo provide advice and guidance to staff within the discipline including the training of staff in the use of MXProfessionalTo undertake other work of a technical nature that falls within own ability and competenceTo actively pursue professional training and development and motivate and encourage the professional development ofothersEstablish effective working relationship with clientsFoster good relationships with all external parties to enhance the company's reputation.Foster development and ensure good working relationship of project team membersTypical ActivitiesProvide best methods and practices to meet technical and project requirements.Conceptual and outline design of engineering solutions and presentation of optionsDetailed designPreparation of technical reports and other written documentsAssistance with statutory process including exhibition and public inquiry preparation and attendance.Production of contract documentation.Provide input into Clients progress meetings.Liaison with supply chain as required.Attend meetings as requiredComply with company management systems.To ensure relevant Health and Safety and other regulations are implementedIT SkillsComputer literate with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite.MX Professional, MS Projects preferred.
