Our client, the consulting division of a major global broker is looking to take on a highly experienced Health and Safetyprofessional to manage their substantial Health and Safety business.The successful candidate will provide strategic health and safety management to throughout the company within the UK andincreasingly through their European business as well.As head of a team of health and safety professionals and support staff the successful applicant will have fullresponsibility for the strategic direction of the group and dealing with key decision makers within our clientsbusinesses. The post-holder will also have management responsibility for an established team of approximately fiftyindependent health and safety consultants. There are also budgetary plans to expand the size of the internal team duringthe next financial year.The primary focus of the role relates to the insurance activities undertaken by our clients Insurance business withinEurope and in particular the provision of Employers' Liability (EL) cover. Our client has developed a market leadingproduct in the EL sector and the job holder will be responsible for the delivery of key aspects of this product,including the assessment of all policy holders' health and safety performance and the serious accident response service.There is scope for future growth in these areas and the development of new and innovative approaches.Reporting directly to a board director, responsibilities assumed by the successful candidate will include:-Strategic management of the assessment work undertaken on our clients EL policy holders. This work currently involvesapproximately 3000 assessments per annum and is likely to grow significantly in order to keep pace with our clientsbusiness expansion plans.-Management of the internal team of safety professionals and support staff.-Management of a team of approximately fifty health and safety consultants who undertake assessment work on our behalf.-Establishing budgets for the above mentioned assessment work. The planned turnover for the work is in the region ofGBP 2.0m per annum.-Management of the serious accident investigation service. This involves working closely with our clients Claimsdepartment and following a serious incident offering advice to the insured company and the claims managers. Our clientcurrently undertake in the region of 40 incident investigations per annum.-The implementation of new services being offered by our client, including:The provision of bespoke health and safety consultancy work to our clients major risks book of business. Such risks aretypically FTSE 350 companies and our clients role will be to identify and undertake consultancy work which meets boththe client and the Insured's needs.-The provision of health and safety training to those companies that our client insures-The provision of consultancy work to external clients not directly linked to our clients' insurance products.The role will also involve working in conjunction with the environment team on projects requiring an integrated approachto environment, health and safety issues.Expectations will be high, but in return the rewards excellent; and the position offers the opportunity to join a leadingglobal insurer at a significantly senior level. |
