Idealpeople are delighted to present an opportunity for an enthusiastic and well educated Graduate Software Developer,ready to embark on a career with a high profile, Cambridge- based consultancy.Our client specialise in providing expert consulting services to organisations, enabling them to build technicalsolutions, using the best open source and commercial Internet infrastructure products available.The company is composed of technology and strategy experts who have been actively involved in the growth and developmentof large scale infrastructure since 1995.Our company have an enviable client base, including many FTSE 100 organisations, the skills we are looking for are listedbelow: Good working knowledge of system-level C-programming in a UNIX/Linux environment, and reasonable knowledge of C++ Experience of socket-level network programming and knowledge aboutnetwork protocols Ability to function well in a small team, requiring self-motivation and the ability to work well under pressure Creative problem solver A finisher who can deliver working/debugged code in a timely manner Bright - the successful candidate will probably have a 2:1 or 1st in Computer Science (or similar discipline) from atop university and a grade A in A-Level maths Appreciation of scalability and performance in system design Technical curiosity and an interest in networking and broadband applicationsUseful Detailed knowledge of low-level networking (E.g. detailed understanding of TCP/IP) Experience of writing network server applications Low-level Linux/UNIX knowledge (e.g. kernel development) Good working knowledge of Perl Knowledge of MySQL (or similar UNIX SQL database)The ideal candidate is confident working with a range of technologies and wants to develop cutting-edge Internetinfrastructure solutionsOur client focus strongly on academics, and you really do need a degree from a top 20 university to be considered.With the focus on academics, the Cambridge location, and the FTSE 100 client base, we are looking for the cream ofgraduate developers and consultants here, so expect a rigorous interview process - on the plus side, given the highexpectations for the right candidate, if you are successful you can expect to be rubbing shoulders with some of the mosttalented and innovative developers in the business consulting space.
