Close contacts are maintained with a variety of end users, including heavy industry and steel producers, throughout theworld ensuring that their Clients are aware of trends and developments that may have an effect on the productsrequirements of these users. Support for all of our Clients products is available from the world-wide network ofsubsidiary companies and distributors; all of whom have access to the manufacturing plant, ensuring that they are able tooffer a total after-sales care package for spare parts and technical support.Overall Purpose:Effectively co-ordinate department personnel and resource to meet production programs maintaining product specification,quality and delivery to pre-set customer requirements. Measure and monitor key statistics taking appropriate actionwithin continuous improvement plans.Principal Responsibilities: Co-ordination of all welding activities conforming to various national and international standards for manual,mechanised and automated systems, formulating procedures and systems of work to ensure best working practice. Formulating expenditure plans through central budget planning meetings, identifying capital, maintenance andrevenue requirements. Annualised budget control for each key area. Co-ordination of value analysis projects to combine product and process reviews consolidating continuousimprovement plans, identifying both cost reduction opportunities and minimising potential business risks. Supervision of Work In Progress and Stock levels, liaising with suppliers ensuring effective procurementfollowed by internal sequential production plans meeting flow line requirements, utilising economical batch quantities toremain cost effective. Management and monitoring of production resources to maximise utilisation, productivity and efficiencyeliminating downtime. Co-ordination of engineering projects to optimise work centre capacity and effective human resourceplanning taking corrective action when deviation from the target is observed. Provide Professional welding support to all company areas including design, motivation and guidance topersonnel. Identify and provide training requirements. Technical engineering responsibility of product specification and manufactured quality through processreliability. Identifying improvements through changes to working practices and new technology introduction. Selection andco-ordination of sub-contract operations on internally manufactured products, along with other specialised sub-contractactivities within the department. Prepare and manage production plans in co-operation with central planning, supervising and motivating theworkforce to achieve targets; taking corrective action when deviations from plan occur. Risk management through continuous assessment of potential business risks, preparing and meeting annual targetsto minimise effects and ensure continuous improvement. Co-ordination of preventative maintenance on all manufacturingplant and equipment used within the internal manufacturing process including custom designed tooling and fixtures. Liaise with all company personnel to ensure relevant Quality standards and procedures are observed, followed andmaintained.QualificationsEssential: Higher level within Fabrication, ie HNC or similarDesirable: European Welding Specialist / European Welding Technician / European Welding EngineerExperienceEssential: Minimum of 5 years experience within a fabrication / production environment using various manufacturingprocesses integrated into established workflow systemsDesirable: Previous role within Fabrication Management / SupervisionSkillsEssential: The ability to co-ordinate all welding activity from drafting procedures through to directly supervising theiruseDesirable: Personally coded as a welderSpecial KnowledgeEssential: 5 Years within a production fabrication environment, working within the relevant national and internationalstandardsDesirable: Knowledge of heavy section structural steel fabricationPersonal Qualities (demonstrable)Essential: Confident, precise and clear communication, well presented, professional person |
