Their application universe is immense and covers industries such asmarine, automotive, off-highway / construction, RV/caravan, industrial machinery, enclosures, HVAC, medical equipment andnetwork, telecommunications and computers.Job SummaryThey are now seeking an Engineering Manager who will be responsible for managing the day to day activities of their teamof engineers, as well as driving the team to be customer focused, flexible and responsive in meeting the needs of thiskey customer base. Imperative to this role is the management of the creative design process. Taking a concept throughdevelopment to manufacture, ensuring that best practice is applied through each stage. The end result should be productsthat meet the customers performance, quality, lead-time and cost expectations. This will involve close networking andco-ordination with facility functions both local and USA, sales and external supply partners to support the designprojects, as well as close liaison and open communication with the US design engineering team, and corporate engineering.There will also be a need for some hands on design work for some key account applications or when the workload demandsit.Accountabilities:MANAGING ENGINEERINGOversee day-to-day activities of the engineering teamAdministration of projects including Custom projects and modificationsEnsure that customers receive outstanding service.PROJECT MANAGEMENTManage available resources, including setting, monitoring and holding team accountable for achieving project milestonesin the development process.Drive engineers to design out cost, and deliver profitable and innovative solutions to our customers specifications.COMMUNICATIONDevelop and maintain open project list as a visible communication and management tool.Encourage team to build relations.BUDGET CONTROLEstablish, together with the European General Managers, the budget for the Design Engineering team.DESIGN ENGINEERINGHands on design work to support key account applications.Requirements:Chartered Engineer preferredWork permit / passport which allows work in UK and travel throughout Europe. (If applicable)Engineering Degree, required (Preferably Mechanical)Knowledge of manufacturing processes relevant to the companys business5 years' Management experience, required, with experience in a customer engineering environmentFluent in English and one other European language, preferably GermanOne to two years experience of a sales environmentCompetencies:LeadershipCustomer FocusCommunication/InfluenceTechnical/Functional Knowledge - Full knowledge of contemporary Engineering management techniques.Planning and OrganisationBusiness Acumen
