DISABILITY DESIGN CONSULTANT - GLASGOW - PERMANENT - SALARY NEGOTIABLEOur client requires a Disability Design Consultant, reporting to the Head of Disability Design Group. The position willbe based in the client's Glasgow Office, but the consultant will be expected to travel to North Europe and other UK basedoffices on occasion.You will be expected to act independently on DDC projects with background support from the Job Leader, after an initialinduction period into the systems and procedures within our client's organisation. As a Disability Design Consultant,your role will include: Access Audits Attend Design team meetings and offer verbal advice Respond to client questions promptly Data collection and report writing Carrying out research to Support Access Consultancy projects Internet research Maintaining a technical library Keeping up to date on all issues relating to Access and the DDAPlan Checks to specified standards of environments such as Listed and Historic Buildings, New builds, Theatres, Museums,Public Buildings, Housing and LandscapesAdditional Duties: Maintain project design files to a high standard. Preparation of reports and documents in conjunction with Quality Management System. Maintaining an informed position on all projects within the DDC group. Responsible for the independent design reviews, as per the QMS system.Management Skills Ability to communicate technical subjects Required to implement total integrated techniques Focus on technology based solutions, not hype Desire and ability to innovate where appropriate in technological solutionsExperience required: At least 3 years post-grad experience within a construction related design consultancy. Degree in a related field e.g. architecture, surveying, design, engineering. Demonstrate an enthusiasm, vision and desire to make a positive impact on Access for disabled people. Understand and read architectural plans. Demonstrate understanding of the process of design and construction of buildings and external environments. Knowledge of the Disability Discrimination Act and the scope of Planning, Building Regulation and other legislation inrespect of Access. Understand the elements required to carry systematic auditing of service premises. Work both independently and as part of a team and to accept responsibility for tasks delegated. Practical' experience of collecting and recording information. Computer literate in Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Microsoft Outlook. Good communication skills experience in client and design meetings. NRAC membership an advantageSalary - negotiable depending on experience.ref JF/0511-16
