COMMERCIAL PROGRAMME MANAGER - UK MoD CONTRACTSMy Client specialises in the manufacture and maintenance of gas turbine engines for the aerospace industry.Job DescriptionReporting to: General ManagerMain responsibilities:Manage and administer all company contracts with the UK Ministry of Defence (MoD).Act as the focal point and primary point of contact for the customer and key stakeholders. Coordinating all Company-MoDbusiness activity and managing the customer relationship to ensure customer satisfaction.Develop proposals, prepare and negotiate contracts in response to commercial tenders and request for quotations from theMoD.Provide leadership to the commercial and sales team and ensure that staff are effectively managed, motivated anddeveloped.Own and manage all customer-touching commercial and logistics processes for the MoD from initial customer contact toinvoice settlement.Main tasks:Participate in the development and implementation of the business strategy.Participate in the preparation of the 5-year business plan and annual budget.Prepare and control the sales and operating budget for the MoD business activity and update budget forecasts as required.Manage the relationship with the UK MoD and provide the customer with excellent customised service.Respond promptly to any requests for quotation / proposals and customer enquiries.Oversee the preparation and negotiation of contracts with the MoD; coordinating with group legal staff on contractwording and other legal issues.Manage the bid / contract review process.Ensure compliance with contract terms and conditions and with group / company commercial policies.Develop and implement robust commercial and supply chain management processes and information systems to support MoDcontract activity.Manage and administer all commercial and supply chain management processes in support of the MoD contracts.Monitor key performance indicators (including quality, cost and delivery) on the MoD business and take action as requiredto address any performance deficiencies.Identify, analyse and manage business risks associated with the contracts with the MoD.Analyse commercial performance of business transactions and highlight possible business risks to the General Manager orcompany board as appropriate.Maximise revenues and minimize the associated costs and risks; whilst ensuring that a long-term, healthy and mutuallybeneficial relationship is maintained between company and the MoD.Undertake continuous improvement of the commercial function.Establish a team environment of learning, engagement, and continuous improvement through effective leadership ofcommercial and sales staff.Carry out appraisals of assigned team members and regularly review performance, along with training and developmentneeds.Complete any other tasks as may be reasonably directed by the General Manager.Key result areas:Charged with overall responsibility for customer satisfaction.Development and management of long-term contractual relationships with the MoD.Achieving sales, quality, cost and delivery targets.Profitability of contracts with the UK MoD.High level of engagement from commercial and sales staff.Competencies & attributes required:Thorough knowledge of UK MoD contracting terms and SMART acquisition practices.Excellent knowledge and understanding of contract law, commercial best-practice and supply chain management processesas applied within the aerospace industry.Commercially astute with proven negotiation and problem-solving skills. Ability to apply these skills within complexcontractual situations.Ability to prepare and control budgets, with good understanding of accounting principles.Excellent communication skills and ability to develop influential relationships with customers, suppliers and businesspartners.High level of organizational ability and results orientated (financial and non-financial).Excellent leadership skills with the ability to motivate and positively influence others.Working knowledge and experience in application of TSP, MCO and SBH contracts.Professional approach with high level of integrity and ability to lead by example.Good strategic and business planning knowledge / skills.Experience in a commercial / contract management role within an aerospace MRO environment and/or with UK MoD contractswould be highly advantageous.We offer an exceptional working environment, competitive rates of pay, 25 days annual holiday + statutory holidays,pension and flexi-working. |
