Description:

Build Engineer ungentley required ideally experienced with build management tools, such as BuildForge, XoreaxsIncredibuild, and/or other third party build systemsas well as Visual Studio based platforms such as C++ or C#, make, scripting tools such as PERL or Python, XML/XSLT,packaging tools such as InstallShield, and automation tools to join the worlds leading interactive entertainmentsoftware company.Our client develops, publishes and distributes software worldwide for the Internet, personal computers and video gamesystems.Skills and Knowledge RequiredBachelor degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent training and professional experience.Proficiency with Visual Studio-based platforms such as C++ or C#, make, scripting tools such as PERL or Python,XML/XSLT, packaging tools such as InstallShield, and automation tools.Demonstrable expertise in User Interface design and understanding of human/computer interaction AI.Experience RequiredKnowledge of the product development lifecycle, including proper software engineering and debugging practices, is apre-requisite. (Knowledge of the game development lifecycle is desired but not required.)Knowledge of source code control systems such as Perforce, development branching methodologies, and an understanding oflarge project integrations.Experience with build management tools, such as BuildForge, Xoreaxs Incredibuild, and/or other third party buildsystemsKnowledge of build processes, build machines & maintenance, and distributed systems. Linux experience is an asset.Understands Quality Assurance principles and methods.Understands the release process and the development waterfall model, and the use of prototypingPreference will be given to those candidates who have experience with:.NET, make, nant, DirectX, Xbox, Xenon, PS2,and/or other game compilers and software development kits.Key Duties and ResponsibilitiesDesigns, deploys, and maintains working build systems (including support tools and applications), fixes build issueswithout impacting development releases.Works with the development and QA teams to create complete and working product packages (SDKs) to provide to customers.Supports new game platform SDKs/XDKs/libraries for new game development environments when they become available.Identifies, analyzes, and documents defects, errors, and inconsistencies in the software, builds, and other systemscritical to the core business; early notification of problems is critical.Designs, deploys, and maintains automated structures to improve the efficiency of build, packaging, and deploymentsystems.Generates test harnesses and test data to maintain build system efficiencies, providing regular updates and maintenance.Assists with, and helps validate, QA and development tools.Behaviours/CompetenciesResults Driven-Understand the demanding requirements of finishing high-quality commercial products on time.Flexibility-Extreme flexibility in problem solving and working with other engineers on multiple projects.Teamwork-Operate as a member of a team working collaboratively with and taking direction from others.-Ability to collaborate with a worldwide net of engineers.Ownership-Able to deliver on tasks with minimal direction.-Takes responsibility for actions and outcomes-Sees projects through despite obstacles and difficult circumstancesCommunication-Excellent communication and listening skills this role will involve communicating with product management, architects,technical authors, QA and other BSG engineers.Resourcefulness-Finds ways to overcome barriers-Recognises where to go to get things done and builds informal network of information sources and influence-Uses imaginative and innovative approaches to solve problems-Strong analytical, problem-solving and aware of alternatives.
