Description:

The purpose of the role is to provide an Oil and Gas revenue accounting and tax compliance reporting service for a numberof BP's Aberdeen assets, reporting to the BP Revenue and Tax Accounting team leader.Main requirements are to ensure that all assigned service deliverables - e.g. monthly / quarterly / annual financialreporting, half-yearly Petroleum Revenue Tax (PRT) are achieved in compliance with the SLA and agreed timetables. Therole is likely to involve a degree of supervision of staff involved in underlying processing and accounting activities.As an Accountant you will be responsible for: * Delivery of revenue accounting and tax reporting services in accordance with service level agreements and client requirements for a range of BP's assets. * Quarterly sales value and volume reporting to BP via the Accenture client services team: * Accounting for oil and gas sales * Maintenance of hydrocarbon accounts to sales reconciliations and resolving issues * Period end accruals and reporting * Production reporting * Liaison with BP IST and BP Finance in London regarding accounting and transaction issues * 6-monthly PRT compliance reporting to BP Tax Department: * Preparation of tax pack schedules * Reconciliation of tax reported values to accounts * Liaison with Accenture colleagues, client and third parties * Input to other accounting and reporting duties as required, e.g. - * Preparation / approval of financial reconciliations * Cash forecasting * Audit information * Intercompany processes * Implement and/or support initiatives to increase process efficiencies under a continuous improvement programme. * Operating to tight deadlines - e.g. for tax returns, compliance data provision, corporate reportingQualifications * Qualified Accountant, or alternatively 2-3 years' depth of industry experience in these specific areas * Knowledge of SAP / operated accounting preferred * Self-motivated, willing to work with minimal supervision and take ownership of own responsibilities * Willingness to develop the necessary technical business knowledge to fully deliver in the role * Ability to work to tight deadlines, and operate effectively to tight deadlines * Proactive, positive approach with colleagues, clients and external parties * Good communication skillsFurther considerations * The post holder will report directly to BP revenue and Tax Accounting Team Leader * Diverse services - accounting and tax compliance support, both requiring development of specialist knowledge * Significant revenue values - c.
