: My client is a leading pan-European broadband networking company, providing businesses across Europe with innovative, IP-based wide area network solutions. My client is an infrastructure-based provider, with a 'pure IP' next generation network. THE ROLE: To troubleshoot and provide 2nd and 3rd line technical support for large corporate customer solutions. KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS: - Problem Analysis Able to identify problems, seek relevant data, analyse and evaluate appropriate options for corrective action -Troubleshoot and resolve 2nd and 3rd line issues for Easynets large corporate customers - Problem solving of WAN networks MPLS, Routing, Leased Line, LES, ISDN, DSL, Good knowledge required - Experience of Cisco routers and switches - Responding to customer requests for further in depth investigation of problems and reporting EXPERIENCE REQUIRED CCNA qualification but not essential An undergraduate degree in Computer Studies or equivalent would be preferred but not essential 3-5 years experience in an support role in the ISP environment is essential (Best Accreditation Match CCNP or CCIP) In depth knowledge of ADSL, Leased Line, LES, ISDN and dial connections for diagnostic, fault resolution and escalation purposes, where problems are unable to be resolved through primary channels. xDSL knowledge is important Ability to recognise problems with SDH for escalation. Understanding of Ethernet in its various forms (copper & Fibre) Understanding of FastEtherchannel and GigEtherChannel Technologies Understanding of Token Ring (not essential, but desired) In Depth understanding of PPP (PAP, CHAP), PPP fragmentation and LFI In Depth understanding of ATM for LLU - use of VPI/VCI switching paths and traffic contracts In Depth understanding of Ethernet Technologies Fast and Gigabit flavours In Depth understanding of Layer 2 Switching, VLANs, VLAN-Trunking and Spanning Tree protocols Class Of Service, MTU etc Understanding of Token Ring Framing (not essential, but desired) In Depth understanding of MTU issues related to Tunnelling In Depth understanding of MPLS and MPLS VPNs including BGP and OSPF extensions Understanding of configuration and diagnosis of problems (packet loss or latency) relating to L2TP tunnels Understanding of GRE tunnels Sound understanding of IPSEC Protocols (AH, ESP, IKE, ISAKMP) for diagnosis and referral Understanding of problems arising from IPSEC through NAT - Thorough understanding of routing/int |
